"You know how a master chief or chocolate confectioner can mix things in layers and delicious waves that hit you for much longer than you expect after a bite-sized bit? They mix things that you wouldn't necessarily expect and do so with precision in layers that makes you a bit stunned that it's even possible something could be so good yet so small? This short story is kind of like that. It's steampunk but not TOO steampunk, has a vampire but not one that annoys me, and a good bit of Victorian domestic life sewn into a tight little jewel of a story."

"What a cracking good read this was! Want to read a story full of suspense and magic, grounded solidly in a very real world, with characters you'll care about? Then buy this book."

"A twist on the normal vampire and Mage stories, along with engaging characters and a fast moving plot, help me to give this story an A+."

"I don't usually like books with vampires in them! But once I started reading it I didn't want to put it down! I agree with the other reviews that one of the best things were characters that didn't frustrate me. They were intelligent and real. The didn't act out of character in order to move the story line along. And from the beginning I wanted, no, needed to know what would happen to them."

"My one complaint about this book is that it ended! The characters are engaging. I started reading one evening, and didn't stop until I was done."
